“Come back to me with all your heart.
Don’t let fear keep us apart.
Trees do bend though straight and tall;
so must we to others call.
Long have I waited for your coming home to me
and living deeply our new life.”
The whole hymn is based on the book of Hosea, but I relate the lyrics to the parable of the prodigal son. No matter what we have done, God is waiting for us with open arms.
In small problems and large problems, I should not fear God. When the trivial is blown out of proportion, and I’m too ashamed to ask God for guidance, or when large events overwhelm me, and I feel too lost to go to God, I find it very comforting to know that God is waiting with love and forgiveness so I can start fresh.
Thank you, Lord, for your unending love and forgiveness. When I am lost, lead me back to you.
