So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate; and she also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate. (Genesis 3:6)
Adam and Eve want more than what God gave them.
God gave them ALL the trees in garden, except one. All they needed.
The entire created world was theirs to till and keep.
The Animals were theirs to name.
But they wanted more.
Just one more thing and then, finally then,
They will be happy, healthy, wealthy and wise.
Just a little bit more money,
Just a more understanding spouse,
Just a few less wrinkles, a nip here, a tuck there
Just some new kitchen cabinets and a granite countertop,
Just one more cool app to organize my life,
Just a better boss,
just one more thing, then, finally then, I will be happy, healthy, wealthy and wise.
The temptation is inside each of us.
What is your “one more” thing?
Prayer: God you promise to provide all that I need. Help me let go of wanting more and more. Fill my heart with contentment and my spirit with peace. Amen.
