Immanuel Lutheran Church
830 South Ave. W.
As featured in Living Lutheran, the Washington Post, and Classical Singer Magazine, and 300+ media outlets, countertenor Mikah Meyer will be a guest soloist and speaker at Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Most recently a professional singer for the Washington National Cathedral Choirs, Mikah is the founder of the world’s largest LGBT Christian Young Adult organization, “Queer For Christ.”
He is currently on a world record-setting journey to all 417 U.S. national parks in honor of his father, ELCA Pastor Larry Meyer, who died 11 years ago.
Mikah is using his parks project to advocate for increased LGBT Christian visibility and acceptance.
As he visits the National Parks, he stops at churches along the way to sing and to tell his faith story about his father’s death, and what it is like to be gay and Christian.
The churches he visits offer him spiritual and financial support.

The Immanuel Church Council acknowledges that our church members have LGBTQ family members and friends.
The council understands that our leaders and members have diverse opinions concerning to what extent our church fully welcomes and includes people who are LGBTQ. Some of us have deep convictions, while others are confused. This is an opportunity for us to grow and stretch in our understanding of how people can think or be different than us, but still be called follow Jesus.
Listening with an open heart to the testimony of those different from us is an essential first step in loving God and our neighbors as ourselves.
