Called into unity with one another and the whole creation, let us pray for our shared world.

Gracious God, we give you thanks for all the baptized in every time and place.  Strengthen our faith, and give us eyes to see you in the midst of our own trials and sufferings.  Restrain us from sin and evil, and teach us to be reckless with grace and mercy. Merciful God, hear our prayer.

Almighty God, we give thanks for the land and government that is our heritage. Bless our United States, and make us who came from many nations, with many languages, a united people that delights in our many gifts.  Guide all who govern to use their power – not for personal glory or profit – but in the service of the people, especially the most vulnerable. Drive away from us cynicism, selfishness, partisanship, and corruption that we may be at peace among ourselves and a blessing to other nations of the earth. Merciful God, hear our prayer.

Almighty God, watch over the men and women of our armed forces, at home and abroad.  Strengthen their faith, uphold their courage, and inspire them to serve with honor and diligence. Bless families who are separated with patience, fidelity and health. We give thanks for our nation’s veterans, who have served the values of democracy and freedom. Send hope and help to veterans who are wounded or troubled. Merciful God, hear our prayer.

Merciful God, tend to those who bear heavy burdens and face stressful decisions; for those whose work is tedious or dangerous; for those who have experienced failure or loss; for those facing the corona virus through illness or by serving in the medical field. Send them your guidance, healing, and hope. We hold in prayer these whom we name aloud or silently……. Merciful God, hear our prayer.

Eternal God, we give thanks, for the freedom to gather and worship you without fear. Preserve the lives of those who are persecuted for their faith in Christ, especially those from Nigeria, North Korea, Afghanistan, Somalia and Sudan. Send them your Spirit of wisdom and faithfulness that they may choose faith over fear and hope over hate. We give thanks for all who have lived and died faith especially these whom we name before you now……. Welcome them into your everlasting rest until we join with them in Your eternal peace. Merciful God, hear our prayer.

Into your hands, O Gracious God, we commend all for whom we pray trusting in your mercy through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.
