This year, 2021, brings some interesting challenges to what we “normally” do during Lent. Since we can’t be together in person, we are offering several different ways to be together and yet be safe. Join us where you can- some in person, some virtually. Blessings during your Lenten Journey.
Lent Prayer Vigil– AT HOME
What is a prayer vigil? Prayer is something we all can give. For centuries, Christians have gathered before important events to pray. Prayer encircles stewardship of our time, thoughts, and lives. Please join us in spiritual preparation and prayer as we mark the season of Lent. Lent is the 40 days before Easter that mark Jesus’ journey to the cross. The disciplines of Lent self-examination, prayer, fasting, sacrificial giving and works of love. Guided prayer stations located throughout the sanctuary will provide Scripture and prayer suggestions.
If you weren’t able to attend in person on February 27, download the “At Home Version” and complete it all at once or maybe over several days or a week.
Lent Stewardship Focus 2021
During the 40 days of Lent, we focus on Christ giving himself to us on the cross. As his disciples, we respond in gratitude with our own acts of charity, service, devotion, and prayer. For four weeks we will explore being faithful in little things, faithful with much, and faithful with all God has given us. We will invite you to complete a financial commitment for 2021.
Lent & Stewardship Packets – Please pick up.
- Available at the church office Sunday, February 21 through 28. Packets that are not picked up will be mailed on March 1.

Lenten Soup Suppers
Although we will not meet together due to the pandemic, we invite you to have a simple meal of soup and bread one night a week. Please post pictures and your favorite soup recipe on our Facebook page.
Making soup is forgiving, just like our God! A simple soup supper marks that the 40 days before Easter are different. The simplicity of the meal reminds us that we do not rely on bread alone, but upon God’s Word. One might consider the cost savings of a more simple meal as a donation to a charitable cause such as LWR Baby Care Kits.

LENTEN STORY WALK
Join us for a “StoryWalk®” around the Immanuel Playground and yard. It will include stopping posts to share the story “A Place to Stay, A Shelter Story”, a chance for all ages to reflect upon the Lenten Christian discipline of sacrificial giving and works of love, especially for those experiencing poverty and homelessness. It will also give an introduction to the new Missoula Family Housing Center opening in May, a collaboration of Family Promise of Missoula and the Missoula YWCA.
The StoryWalk® will start at the blue arrow near the playground gate. The StoryWalk® will be available between 10 and 5 Friday March 12 through Sunday, March 14. Please respect each others’ space and the church property. The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson, of Montpelier, Vermont, and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library.
LENTEN WALK/RUN
On Saturday you are also invited to participate in a 1 mile or a 5 K walk/run starting at 10 am at the Immanuel parking lot (maps will be made available). Enjoy the Story Walk either before or after your walk/ run. This will be an opportunity for us to see each other in a socially distanced way, to experience our faith, and to promote the healthy habit of walking.
