It takes a community to help a community! Yes, Missoula is a city, but our congregation here at Immanuel is a community within a city. Immanuel is generous and caring, and we are ready to help a community in need in another country.
This Lenten season, our service project is to support God’s Global Ministry through ELCA Good Gifts. It should be an exciting time to see what we can do to help others. Our goal this Lent is to get enough donations $1020 to equip a whole community with the resources they need to build for a stronger future.
For $1020 we can purchase an Abundant Community that includes a goat, rooster, cow, chicks, honeybees, seeds and gardening tools, 3 fruit tree seedlings, a field school for farmers and a community garden. These will enable a village to nourish themselves and their families and to generate income.
Check out the table in the entryway starting March 9th, where you can get a catalogue to learn more about ELCA Good Gifts, and ask questions. Donations will be accepted through Palm Sunday, April 13th.
The seeds of hope you help your neighbors plant today will continue to grow for generations. Thank you for your generosity!
