Why Now? Why Immanuel?

For the past decade, Faith Communities have worked through MIC to address major community challenges. The Meadowlark Family Housing Center shows what we can accomplish. In 2025, MIC Partners, including IMLU, identified affordable transitional and permanent affordable housing for families as our next priority with the goal of creating 100-150 units of housing in 5 years.

The reason to consider low-income housing on our property is simple: to grow our mission and to love our neighbor.

We have been blessed with land, buildings, and abundance. What if we used those gifts not simply to preserve what we have, but to create something that helps our mission grow?

The culture around “church” has changed dramatically over the past 20 years. To be a vibrant, growing congregation, we need to find new ways to build relationships with people—especially youth and families—we might not otherwise connect with through traditional ministries.

Imagine welcoming people into our community not because they walked through our church doors first, but because we chose to build a place where relationships can begin, and where people encounter the love of Christ through a community that chooses to be present with them.

This is an opportunity for Immanuel to lead by example—to use what we have to build relationships, serve our neighbors, and create new pathways for people to experience the community and love of Christ.

We aren’t giving away our mission.

We’re building it.
